Match Masters
Editor‘s Review
While Match Masters sticks to the basic concepts of the classic match-3 genre, it also innovatively introduces player versus player (PvP) competition in real-time. It's a delightful design that ensures long periods of fun for players really into puzzles as well competitive gamers; this is perhaps the reason why, surprisingly and without any notice to the public, Match Masters managed to slip quickly and quietly into the big time. With fast action, deep strategy, and a lively community complete with social features designed to help players keep coming right back for more, Match Masters has all the great game play one could possibly hope of.
In a similar fashion to other Match-3 games, Match Masters has players swap adjacent tiles on a grid in order to form lines of three or more identical gems. There are also a few differences between it and those that are standard on the market now: particularly the player will play against another live competitor. Every match is a 1-on -1 contest in which both players take turns to move within a certain number of rounds (usually five in total). The aim is simply to score more points than your opponent in the time left. You get points for each blast of stacked gems: thus, a simple and addictive formula. If Match Masters is to be likened to any comparison at all, it is chess with excitement befitting a major championship at stake thrown in for good measure.
Skillful play and clever decision-making are vital to achieve victory. One of Match Masters' greatest charms is how many factors need to be weighed up: players cannot simply pursue their own personal score any way they like. They have to take into account the implications of their movements on other characters around them. For example, they can lay down special gems or bombs, lightning bolts and arrows which yield them dope piles of extra points, this makes it inimical to the opponent's game or just messes up his layout altogether.
With every 4-match (eliminating four gems in one go and receiving another turn) players gain extra time to prolong their offensive or, on the other hand, get into better defensive positions. These elements transform each game into a high-stakes, chess-like struggle where one misstep could prove fatal for either side.
Match Masters has added to its social appeal in various ways. Players can battle against, or create teams with others so as to get advice on how to play and use the collective wisdom of the team in head-to-head team games for special rewards. The game also contains a sticker collection system. Players can exchange stickers with team-mates in order to fill up their album and get further benefits. What is more, match-time chat and emoji interactions bring people together in the spirit of camaraderie and friendly rivalry from all over the world.
In conclusion, Match Masters provides a novel take on the match-3 genre. Its casual puzzle gameplay mixes perfectly with its competitive PvP aspects. It also offers players various modes to play among friends and chat with them while playing. The depth of strategy on offer at such a low price point, its various modes and above all strong community features make this game essential for anyone seeking a light-hearted and enjoyable mobile gaming experience.
